Our Model.
At Nosh & Nourish Therapy, we utilize a “burst” model of treatment. This means that each family is asked to commit to a 14-week burst of therapy services. Within this time, we will work towards the goals outlined at the conclusion of your feeding evaluation. Services will include a mix of in-clinic direct treatment, 1-2 home visits, and parent education/coaching (virtual), as decided upon with your provider. Feeding therapy is a commitment, from a time, mental, and emotional standpoint, for both the child and the family as a whole. This model is intended to provide manageable chunks of treatment, where all involved can fully participate. Within the last 4 weeks of your therapy burst, you will discuss next steps, which may include: another burst of treatment, transition to consultative services, discharge from services, or a break.
Our services.
-
Clinic-Based feeding therapy
Feeding therapy sessions focus on direct treatment of underlying challenges impacting your child's feeding/eating skills, dependent on the outcomes of the feeding evaluation. Sessions are built around the child’s strengths and interests to support fun and engaging sessions, working towards goal skills or goal foods. We take your child’s own personal goals into account. At least one parent is expected to join these sessions to increase carryover into the home environment.
-
Home/Community Visits
These sessions are held within the home, and are a vital part of feeding therapy. While much of treatment tends to focus on building the child’s skills and capacities, feeding therapy involves every member of the family unit. Providing services within the home environment allows us to fine tune therapy skills and tools in the actual environment where much of feeding occurs. School/community visits are also possible upon request, and within scheduling parameters. It is anticipated for each family to participate in at least one home visit per therapy burst.
-
Caregiver Education/Coaching or Consultation
These sessions are held virtually, without the presence of the child, and focus on providing support/tools and real-time problem-solving to parents and caregivers. Topics and lessons will be specified by the focus of therapy sessions or current pressing concerns reported by family. Additionally, when a therapy burst is not indicated for a child or family, consultative services, provided virtually, can be provided upon request.
