ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! My name is Hannah Michlmayr, and I am a licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L) in the state of Washington. I have been a pediatric occupational therapist since 2019, working in both hospital-based and private practice clinics. My passion is utilizing the power of play and connection to help kids make sense of themselves and the world around them. I believe in a strengths-based and collaborative approach, and strive to provide holistic care to support functional improvements, learning about and utilizing all of the unique and important factors within each child and family.

I find the greatest joy in working with individuals on feeding/eating. These are skills that are utilized each and every day, for nourishment, survival, enjoyment, connection, and quality time. Feeding is also one of the only activities that uses every sensory system in the human body, and can be impacted by a wide range of factors (medical, motor, emotional, developmental, nutritional, learning, sensory, and more) making it incredibly complex to understand and treat. It is my job to unravel the underlying factors of your child’s eating challenges, help you to understand them, and work with the family as a unit to help your child not only survive, but thrive. Many families, understandably, describe mealtimes with a picky eater as a fight or a struggle, and my goal is decrease the stress and challenge for all involved. Utilizing a strengths- and play-based approach, I help a child build positive experiences around food and learn how to help themselves through discomfort or novelty so they can go forth feeling empowered by the skills to confidently handle whatever comes their way.

I have advanced training in the areas of feeding therapy (The SOS Approach to Feeding and AEIOU), interoception (Kelly Mahler’s Interoception Curriculum), emotional regulation, and strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming care (The Learn Play Thrive Approach to Autism).

When I am not working, I love to ski, hike, mountain bike, and cook for big groups of friends and family!
